Bankroll Management: A Practical Guide
Sound bankroll management is the single most important skill a gambler can develop,
regardless of experience level. Before depositing any funds, decide on a fixed gambling
budget — an amount you are genuinely comfortable losing entirely. This should be
discretionary income, completely separate from rent, groceries, utility bills, or
savings. Players in Dhaka and Chittagong who treat gambling as entertainment with a
pre-set budget consistently report more enjoyable experiences than those who play
without defined limits.
Once you have established your total budget, divide it into session amounts. If your
monthly gambling budget is ৳5,000, consider splitting it into five or ten sessions of
৳500–৳1,000 each. This prevents you from burning through your entire allocation in a
single sitting and allows you to enjoy the platform across multiple occasions. Never
top up a session from savings or other income streams mid-play.
Follow the 1–5% per-bet rule: no single bet or wager should exceed
1–5% of your total session bankroll. If you have ৳1,000 for a session, individual bets
should sit between ৳10 and ৳50. This keeps variance manageable and extends your playing
time significantly. High-volatility slots and accumulator bets are exciting, but sizing
bets appropriately ensures a bad run does not end your session prematurely.
Knowing when to stop is equally important in both directions. Set a win
target (e.g., 50% profit on the session bankroll) and a loss
limit (e.g., the full session amount). When you hit either threshold, close
the session. Walking away on a win prevents giving profits back; stopping at a
predetermined loss prevents chasing losses, which is the leading cause of problem
gambling behaviour.
Finally, keep a simple record of your sessions — date, game played, starting balance,
ending balance. Even a spreadsheet or a notes app entry takes under a minute and
provides invaluable insight into your actual performance over time. Pattern recognition
in your own play history is far more reliable than memory alone.
